This is a sculpture from Dr Jan White.
What do you think? What do you see?

Look at these and contribute what one word you think of as a result of seeing them.

Take your time.

For instance, one thought I get is the legs, knees and thighs sitting in a chair, only with out the body. So the comment I would post is….
Half Sitting

Ok, it is two words. Let your brain flow. What do you see? What do you think?

A Quick Copyright Note

Since many of my friends are artists, it is not uncommon to hear about the poor mans copyright.

Here is something you might find enlightening if you choose to use it. The Poor Mans Copyright or How to Be Blissfully Secure in Ignorance.

Thoughts, as always, are welcome.

Roof decking sculpted by a fire, colored by the weather, photographed by Jonathan Steele

This water fall of metal, going over the edge reminds me of how many times in life we have gone over the edge. Sometimes trying out new things. Sometimes getting in trouble. Sometimes just to see what is on the other side, over the edge.

This orange, pink, and blue abstract photo of a burned out building, the folds of metal speak to me
What does it say to you? Can you describe what you see in just one word?

Fire Brewed

Posted on February 1st, 2009 | Permalink | 1 Comment

What happens when the fire brews art?

Fire does many things. We do not consider that fire can create art. Fire is used to create art but fire actually creating art. Although this is some what dark, consider that the fire created it.

Cheers.

The Ring: Sculpted by the Fire

Posted on January 30th, 2009 | Permalink | 3 Comments

The amazing sculpting abilities of fire can be observed in the 6 foot diameter ring it made. Often times things sculpted from and by the world and elements around us produce dynamic effects. This was a truss, the steel that held the roof of the building up. Now, as if bent into a giant ring, much as one might with a piece of aluminum foil. Just a trinket for the fire.

Fire, you got to admire it at the same time that you fear it.

Motor Dead

Posted on January 19th, 2009 | Permalink | 1 Comment

This was a grave yard for old electric motors. Did they all crawl off here to die?

What becomes of old electric motors? Did these just crawl off to die? What kind of life did they lead? Did they make something that we use today?

Have you ever thought how we throw away things, letting them die? Do we do the same with relationships, friendships, and even people we know. Or do we recycle, even if the recycling is in our thoughts, as these pictures are of the motors, only an abstraction?

More Burned Out Buildings and What I see through the lense.

What amazes me about the series of photos of the burned out building is the sculpture created by the fire.
It is almost as if the fire along with other forces were at work creating at the same time as they were destroying. The end result, of course, is in the eye of the beholder.
